  • To become fit, you must have a desire to condition your body so you can continue to do what you want to do.  Tyler has been involved in several activities in the past --sailing, motorcycle racing, running and biking.
  • Statistics show that 65% of the United States public are overweight and today boomers can expect to live to be 80. How healthy you are at the age depends on you.
  •  Fruits keep you from getting overweight – eat more natural foods that have been alive at some time.
  • 95% of people taking prescriptions can expect to take it them the rest of their life so do research on the drugs you are taking or ones your doctor prescribes.
  • Take care of your joints as they are an important part of maintaining your active lifestyle. Put exercises that strengthen your lower back into your routine.
  • New technology is being developed on repairing damaged cartilage with harvested cartilage from your own body.
  • Tyler has found that using a daily log to document his activities and routine has been helpful.
  • Keeping your temperature range in your homes/offices at a higher temperature during these hot summer days, allows your body to adjust to the temperature change much quicker and saves on your electricity bills.

Tubeless wheel and tires are on the market and more companies coming into this market in the next 6 months.  Tubeless tires rims sell in the $100 price range and wheel sets in the range of $1000.  The term fuselage is being used for bike frame and other changes in the technology of bicycles is changing.  Tyler also expressed that corrosion from sweat in the summer months is a bicycle frames worse enemy.

Treasurer’s Report:  Expenses for last month were $47 which consisted of providing Gatorade for the Monday night rides from the Bike Shop.  Three new members joined last month.  We have a balance of $3,300 which is a surplus over last year.  Discussion followed on options to spend this money.  It was concluded at the September meeting, recommendations from the members present will decide how this surplus will be spent.  If you want to submit your option, you must be present at the meeting.

The ride Director for August, Jerry Watkins  is posting the rides on the web site with the help of Mark.  He is working on a ride from Maude Cobb. The attendance from the bike shop has been down for the last few rides.  The ride director of September will be John Richardson.  It was confirmed that the bike club will not be putting on the Blistered Buns event this year.  Time Trials will be next Tuesday and will conclude in October.  Ben Gallagher reported that next Monday, David Plants will provide our after bike meal.
